今日のテーマは、月見 Moon Viewing です。

by the window offered to the moon and the full moon is appreciated.

東洋には月を鑑賞する習慣があり、日本でも旧暦８月15日の夜に
は
月見団子や、季節の果物などを窓辺に飾って月に供え
、満月を鑑賞します。

appreciate ありがたく思う、価値が値上がりするという意味もあり。

tsukimi for the Japanese, who are a farming people,

澄んだ秋空に浮かぶ満月は特に美しく見えるものですが、
農耕民族である日本人の月見の原型は、月を神に見立て、
これから実る稲の豊作を祈るための行事だったとされています。

中秋の名月は the harvest moon です。
ちょうど今日、9月25日が中秋の名月（十五夜）ですね。
各地でお月見のイベントなどもたくさんあるようです。
残念ながら東京地方は曇っているようです。
